Brownsburg (12-6-1) defeated Avon 3-1 in the IHSAA Sectional 9 championship Oct. 10. The overtime win avenged five consecutive postseason losses to the Orioles and gave Brownsburg its first IHSAA Sectional title since 2012.

The Bulldogs controlled possesion for most of the match and outshot the Orioles 17-9. Brownsburg scored in the 2nd minute and led 1-0 until the Orioles found the equalizer in the 59th minute. Abby Lynch and freshman Natalie Hay scored in the first overtime period to seal the Sectional crown for the Bulldogs.

In the second minute Lydia Emmert scored her first goal of the season. The assist came from Grace Crawford on a slot pass to make it 1-0. Goalkeeper Alanna Dixon made a pair of big stops in the half to preserve Brownsburg's 1-0 lead at the break.

Lynch scored in the 82nd minute to make it a 2-1 lead for Brownsburg. The ball found the back of the net after a big scramble in front.

Hay was in the right place to bury a feed from Kylie Conrad in the 85th minute. It was the first goal of Hay's Brownsburg career and made it a 3-1 final score.
