No.13 Girls soccer picks up 2-0 win over Bishop Chatard

By Keelen Barlow

The No.13 ranked Brownsburg Girls' soccer team defeated IHSAA Class 2A No.2 Bishop Chatard 2-0, Sept. 5. Abby Lynch (25') and Taelyn Hendrickson (37') each recorded a goal in the first half as the Bulldogs mounted a 2-0 lead the break. Goalkeeper Alanna Dixon posted her first clean sheet of the 2020 season in the win.

Brownsburg had several scoring opportunities leading up to the Lynch goal in the 25th minute. Grace Crawford nearly scored first in the 7th minute off a centering pass from Hendrickson. The shot was deflected by Bishop Chatard and the Trojans goalkeeper was able to get a save.

The goal from Lynch came off a terrific through ball from Kylie Conrad. Lynch was in free space and buried the ball far side. Twelve minutes later the Bulldogs struck again as Jayden Gibson won a ball out of the air. She played it to Hendrickson who brought the goalkeeper off her line to score on an empty net.

Chloe Gill opened Brownsburg's 2nd half opportunities with a one-on-one chance against the goalkeeper. Gill rolled the shot just wide of the net.

Crawford created chances in the half as well. She played a pair of promising crosses near the 60th minute but the Bulldogs couldn't finish.

Brownsburg held on in the final minutes and got the shutout win.
