No.13 Girls soccer faces setback to top-ranked Park Tudor

By Keelen Barlow

The No.13 ranked Brownsburg girls' soccer team moved to 3-3-1 (0-1-0 in HCC) on the year after a 2-1 loss to Class 1A No.1 Park Tudor Sept. 3. The Panthers scored a pair of first half goals and the Bulldogs weren't able to battle back in the match.

Park Tudor struck less than a minute a part in the first half and built a 2-0 lead near the 20-minute mark.  The Defending IHSAA Class 1A State champion Panthers led the shot count 14-11 in the match.

Grace Crawford answered for Brownsburg in the 31st minute. Hailey Hoskins sent in a cross from the far side that settled into the box and set up the opportunity. Crawford hesitated and scored her fourth goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Ana Esqueda Mendoza was a bright spot in her first varsity action. Mendoza subbed in at the break for Brownsburg and made a pair of key saves near the 60th minute. The latter was a sliding save that halted the Panthers chance on the run and kept the score at 2-1.

The Panthers added a third goal with less than two minutes remaining.
