Girls' soccer set for rematch with Plainfield in Sectional Semi-final

Brownsburg (10-6-1) will take on Plainfield (14-2-1) Oct.8 in the IHSAA Girls' Soccer Sectional 9 Semi-Final at Avon High School. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.

The winner advances to the IHSAA Sectional 9 championship match against Avon or Mooresville.

  • Brownsburg defeated Decatur Central 4-0 Tuesday to advance in the IHSAA State Tournament
  • In the win over the Hawks senior Taelyn Hendrickson recorded the first postseason hat trick for Brownsburg since 2012. (Taylor Carter)
  • The Bulldogs posted their first postseason shutout since a 5-0 win over Mooresville in the 2017 IHSAA State Tournament
  • Thursday marks the second meeting of the season for Brownsburg and Plainfield. The Bulldogs came away with a 3-0 win over the Quakers Sep. 14 
  • Brownsburg has won the last three postseason meetings with the Quakers.

About the Quakers

Plainfield took down Ben Davis 7-0 to set up the meeting with the Bulldogs in the Sectional Semi-Final. The Quakers have the most wins for the program in a single season since 2013.

The Quakers were the highest scoring team in the Mid-State Conference this season. Four Quakers have scored double figure goals with junior Liza Petersson (11 goals) leading the way. Payton Thomas and Danielle Simmons both have 10 goals this year.
