Girls' soccer prepped for Rotary Bell match with No.8 Avon

The Brownsburg girls' soccer team hosts Avon Sept. 9 in the B&O Trail Rotary Bell match. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. from The Pitch. Action will be broadcasted live on Bcsc.tv. 

Brownsburg will celebrate Senior Night as the program honors its ten seniors prior to the game. Grace Crawford, Kalea Cruz, Alanna Dixon, Adrienne Frost, Jayden Gibson, Chloe Gill, Mallory Guy, Taelyn Hendrickson, Abby Lynch and Sam Vondersaar represent the 2021 class for Brownsburg Girls' soccer.

Bulldog Bits

  • Brownsburg went 1-2-0 last week with losses to Cathedral and Park Tudor and a 2-0 win over Bishop Chatard.
  • Freshman Hailey Hoskins scored the first goal of her high school career in the 2-1 loss to Cathedral, Sept. 2
  • The loss to Park Tudor last week snapped an 8-game home unbeaten streak for the Bulldogs. That was the longest streak for Brownsburg since at least 2010.  
  • Brownsburg's group of ten seniors have posted a 37-19-6 record with the program.  
  • The Bulldogs are going for their fourth straight regular season win over Avon this year. Brownsburg has outscored the Orioles 8-3 on over the course of that winning streak.
  • Last season Taelyn Hendrickson scored a header goal in the 80th minute to beat the Orioles 1-0 on the road.

About the Orioles

Avon is 4-2-1 (0-1-1) on the season and is ranked No.8 in this week's ISCA Girls' soccer poll. The Orioles are riding a four-match unbeaten streak heading into the meeting with Brownsburg.

Senior Jessica Purtee has scored 6 goals this year to lead the HCC while junior Amy Velazquez' four goals rank fourth in the conference. The pair has scored at least one goal in three of Avon's last four games.

Oriole goalkeepers Kendall Ellis and Katie Hofbauer are ranked No.1 and No.2 in the HCC in saves.
