Girls' soccer scoring flurry buries Westfield, 6-2

By Keelen Barlow

The Brownsburg Girls' soccer team (7-6-1) blew past Westfield for a 6-2 win in the Bulldogs 2020 home finale. Senior Grace Crawford scored her second hat trick of the season in the win over the Shamrocks.

Brownsburg's six goals against the Shamrocks was the most for the Bulldogs this season and the highest scoring mark in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference match since at least 2010.

The Bulldogs scored four goals in the first half to mount a 4-2 lead at the break. Taelyn Hendrickson fed Crawford in the box to set up a goal in the third minute. It was a second-chance effort after Hendrickson took a free-kick for the Bulldogs.

Back to back goals in the 22nd and 23rd minutes had the Bulldogs leading 3-0 in the match. Hendrickson scored off a long ball from outside the box while Kylie Conrad buried a goal off a through pass from Sam Vondersaar. Lydia Emmert assisted on the goal from Hendrickson.

Jayden Gibson scored her first goal of the season at the 30-minute mark of the half. Abby Lynch's run on the near side brought the goalkeeper off her line and left the net wide open for Gibson to score from far out.

Crawford scored a pair of goals in the 57th and 72nd minutes to round out the hat trick. Emmert set up the first goal off a run on the far side and a centering pass to the top of the box. Lynch's through ball set up a one-on-one opportunity for the third goal.

Goalkeeper Ana Esqueda Mendoza pitched a shutout after coming off the bench to play in the second half.
