Girls' soccer drops physical tilt with Center Grove, 2-1

By Keelen Barlow

The Brownsburg girls' soccer team fell 2-1 to Center Grove Sept. 21 and moved its record to 6-6-1 (1-3-0 in HCC) on the season. Abby Lynch scored her 7th goal of the season in the loss to the Trojans.

Center Grove scored in the second minute to jump out to an early lead in the match.

Brownsburg's lone shot of the first half found the back of the net in the 33rd minute. Freshman Hailey Hoskins started a beautiful run on the far side and played a cross for Lynch in the box. Lynch barely got a piece of the ball, but it tied the game at one heading into halftime.

The two sides combined for 31 fouls in the match and the second half was a physical battle for the go-ahead goal. Center Grove led the shot count 4-3 in the second and was able to score off a free kick in the 52nd minute.

Brownsburg had a promising chance late in the match as the Center Grove goalkeeper came off her line and left the goal empty. The ball was loose in the box, but Brownsburg couldn't find the back of the net.
