Hendrickson's hat trick advances Girls' soccer past Decatur Central, 4-0

Brownsburg (10-6-1) moved past Decatur Central 4-0 in the IHSAA Sectional 9 Quarterfinal Oct. 6. The Bulldogs advance to Thursday's Semi-final round at Avon High School.

Senior Taelyn Hendrickson led the Bulldogs with the first postseason hat trick of her Brownsburg career. She scored a pair of goals moments apart in the second half to seal the win.

The Bulldogs shook off a sluggish start to take the match big over Decatur Central. Scoring opportunities were limited in the first half but the Bulldogs generated four shots and four corner kicks. Three corner kicks for Brownsburg came with minutes of each other midway through the half.

Hendrickson put Brownsburg on the board first off a header goal in the 36th minute. Grace Crawford played the ball from the corner for the assist and Brownsburg led 1-0 at the break.

The Bulldogs scored three goals in six minutes of the second half. Hendrickson scored a pair of unassisted goals in the 52nd and 57th minutes to bury the Hawks 3-0 and round out the hat trick. In the 58th minute Kylie Conrad curved a shot from the far side into the net to close out scoring in the 4-0 win.

Brownsburg led the shot count 16-7 in the match. Goalkeepers Alanna Dixon and Ana Esqueda Mendoza combined for the fifth shutout of the season for Brownsburg.

Brownsburg will take on Plainfield in the IHSAA Sectional 9 Semi-Final Oct. 8 at Avon High School. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
