No.11/18 @bhsdogsghoops rolls New Pal, advances to Regional Final

By Keelen Barlow

The Brownsburg varsity girls' basketball team defeated New Palestine 77-52 in the Semi-Final of the IHSAA Decatur Central regional. The Bulldogs advance to tonight's Regional Final against Lawrence North at Decatur Central. The win puts the program in the Final 8 of the IHSAA Girls' Basketball state tournament for the first time since 1991.

Despite leading by just one point at halftime the Bulldogs were able to come away with the big win after an onslaught in the second half. Ally Becki led the way as she dropped a career-high 33 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal in the win. Kailyn Terrell was one off the high for her young career with 14 points. Allison scored 13 for the Bulldogs.

Becki busted out of the gate for nine of the Bulldogs ten points in the first quarter. The Bulldogs' lead swelled as high as four in the second quarter but the Dragons responded and took the lead with less than a minute to go in the first half. Allison Bosse hit an acrobatic shot before the end of the second and Brownsburg led 24-23 at the break.

The Bulldogs outscored New Pal 53-29 in the second half behind six-made three pointers. Brownsburg forced key turnovers thanks to a stingy full-court press.

Mackenzie Stein and Allison Bosse scored 19 of their combined 22 points in the second half of play. Stein exploded for seven of the first nine Brownsburg points in the second half.

Terrell was 4-6 from the arc in the game for Brownsburg. She hit a trio of threes in what was an electric second half for the Bulldogs. Terrell hit the dagger in the fourth that put the Dragons away for good.
