No.11/18 @bhsdogsghoops takes Sectional title over Avon

By Keelen Barlow

The Brownsburg varsity girls' basketball team defeated Avon, 50-38 at Plainfield High School on February 8 to win the 15th IHSAA Sectional title in program history. It was the third girls' basketball sectional crown in the last four years for Brownsburg.

The trio of Allison Bosse, Ally Becki and Mackenzie Stien combined for 44 of the Bulldogs 50 points in the win. Becki led the Bulldogs with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

Brownsburg led 10-4 after a frenetic start to the game. The Bulldogs forced key turnovers and capitalized to lead 12-9 at the end of the first. Avon jumped out to a 13-12 lead in the second, but Brownsburg responded with a 7-2 scoring run. The two teams traded buckets to end the second and the Bulldogs led 26-23 at the break.

Becki opened the third with seven straight points for the Bulldogs who led 33-27 mid-way through the quarter. Mackenzie Bedrick's buzzer beating three to end the third put Brownsburg up 38-27.

Avon made a strong push to trim the lead to as little as seven in the fourth but the Bulldogs effort was too much and they were crowned Sectional champs.
