GAME NOTES: No.4 Football vs No.6 Carmel for IHSAA Sectional championship

Brownsburg (8-1) hosts Carmel (8-2) for the IHSAA Sectional 5 Championship Nov. 6. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from C.F. Roark Stadium on Bcsc.tv. The winner advances to take on Ben Davis or Perry Meridian in the IHSAA Regional Nov. 13.

News and Notes

  • Friday's meeting is a showdown between the No.3 team (Brownsburg) and the No.4 team (Carmel) in the Sagarin ratings. The two sides finished ranked No.4 and No.6 in the AP Class 6A poll.
  • Brownsburg and Carmel will meet for the first time since 1974 and the fifth time in the history of the two programs. Friday is first ever meeting in the postseason between the programs.
  • Brownsburg is hosting an IHSAA Football Sectional championship for the first time since 2010.
  • The Bulldogs have won IHSAA Sectional championships on home turf on two occasions. (1981, 1985)
  • Brownsburg is hosting a defending IHSAA State champion at Roark Stadium for the second time since 2000. (2011; Fishers)
  • The Bulldogs have a 21-13 all-time record at home in the IHSAA State Tournament. 

Bulldog Bits

  • The Bulldogs erased a halftime deficit to defeat Avon 34-31 last week. Brownsburg is 2-0 this season when trailing at halftime.
  • Brownsburg is searching for the 6th IHSAA Football Sectional championship in school history. The program also won Sectional titles in 1978, 1981, 1984, 1985 and 2009.
  • RB Caleb Marcus needs 82 yards to reach 1,000 for the season
  • Last week Brownsburg ran the ball 61 times against Avon, which tied for the Bulldogs most rushing attempts this season.
  • RJ Myles' kickoff return for a touchdown against Avon was the first of the season for Brownsburg. 
  • Brownsburg's defense had 9.0 tackles for loss in the win over Avon, the second highest mark for the Bulldogs this season (9.5 vs Avon, 9/11)

About the Greyhounds

Carmel defeated Pike 38-22 in last week's IHSAA Sectional Semi-Final. The Greyhounds are vying for their 8th consecutive IHSAA Sectional championship.

Carmel is led by junior QB Zach Osborne who has thrown for 1236 yards and 15 touchdowns on the year. RB Zach White leads the Greyhound rushing attack with 689 yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground.
