Marcus, No.2 Football run past Avon for Rotary Bell, 49-27

The No.2 ranked Brownsburg football team moved to 4-0 on the season with a 47-29 win over Avon Sept. 11. RB Caleb Marcus rushed for a career-high 230 yards and 3 touchdowns as Brownsburg won the B&O Trail Rotary Bell for the third time in school history. Marcus broke off touchdowns of 57 yards and 43 yards with Avon surging in the fourth quarter.

It was Brownsburg's largest regular season margin of victory against Avon since the B&O Trial Rotary Bell was established in 2016. With the win Brownsburg takes a 3-2 advantage in the history of the traveling trophy.

Brownsburg and Avon traded blows to open the game. The Bulldogs went 74 yards and scored off a one-yard touchdown from Cade Garner on the opening drive. Avon answered with a rushing touchdown to make it 7-7.

Late in the first quarter the Orioles attempted a punt from their own five-yard line. The Bulldogs blocked the punt attempt and got on the board via a safety. Following the safety Brownsburg marched down the field and Brandon Burks scored the first of his two rushing touchdowns on the night.

Nick Berry's 32-yard field goal gave Brownsburg a 19-7 lead late in the half. Avon would strike just before the end of the first half for a 19-14 game at the break.

Avon and Marcus traded touchdowns in a thrilling fourth quarter.

The Orioles trimmed the Brownsburg lead to 33-22 early in the fourth. Marcus then broke out the 57-yard TD on fourth down. The Orioles answered to make it a 40-29 game, but Marcus responded with a 43-yard rushing touchdown to extend the Brownsburg lead yet again and put the game out of reach.
