Orioles top Bulldogs

The Brownsburg Varsity Softball team lost to Avon in the Sectional Championship game on Wednesday evening.  Despite two early offensive rallies and tying the game (3-3) in the third inning, the Bulldog's offensive charge wasn't enough to top the Orioles.  Brownsburg lost 8-3 in 6.5 innings.  Kyleigh Anderson helped to put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the second inning with a solo homerun over the left-center wall.  A third inning two-out rally tied the game at three when Taylor Astell, Ally Carver, and Mackayla Gordon recorded back-to-back singles.  Gordon drove in the third run, scoring Carver with her RBI single.  Following the third inning, the Bulldogs were unable to manufacture additional runs.  Brownsburg recorded just 6 hits to Avon's 11.  Bulldogs with two hits included Seniors Carver and Astell, while Bulldogs with one hit included Anderson and Gordon.  With this loss, Brownsburg's record finished at 15-11.

Best wishes to Seniors Ally Carver, Taylor Mendenhall and Taylor Astell as they leave Brownsburg Softball and transition to the collegiate game.  The program is grateful for your outstanding contributions on and off the fields.  Congrats Bulldogs on an outstanding season!  BHS and the softball program are proud of you!!!
