Bulldogs Defeat Cathedral
The Varsity Softball Bulldogs and Cathedral swapped the lead five times on Monday, but Brownsburg came out on top for a 8-6 victory.
In the top of the first, Brownsburg grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Brownsburg's offensive charge started with a single from Ally Carver. A passed ball moved Carver from first to second base. Then,Mackayla Gordon singled, scoring Carver to put the Bulldogs on the board.
Brownsburg's next offensive burst was the result of an explosive 5th inning where they managed to grab a strong lead over the Irish. Brownsburg scored on a three-run triple by Elissa Brownscoring Ally Carver, Taylor Mendenhall and Kayleigh Pate.
Brown and Carver both finished with three hits in their four attempts. Brown recorded a triple, double and three RBIs, while Carver added three solid singles, one of which produced 2 RBIs. Gordon added two hits and 1 RBI while Pate and Jessica Doctor each added a SAC fly for one RBI each.
Jessica Doctor recorded the victory in the pitching circle. In her 5 innings pitched, Doctor struck out four, walked three and gave up just 6 hits. The Bulldogs will travel tomorrow to Hamilton Southeastern for a 6:00 PM match-up.
