Bulldogs Advance in Sectionals

On Tuesday evening, the Brownsburg Varsity Softball team took the win away from the #19 ranked Terre Haute North Vigo in round two of the Sectional Tournament.  The Bulldogs won 3-0, thanks to solid defense, a consistent offense and an outstanding pitching performance from Jessica Doctor.  With a solid defense supporting her, Doctor shut the Patriots' offense down, keeping the team hitless.  The Bulldogs, on the other hand, came storming out of the gates, ready to hit.  Brownsburg combined for 9 hits as a team.  CeCe Ridgeway started the 3rd inning offensive burst that put Brownsburg on the board.  Ridgeway singled up the middle, then advanced to second on a Patriot throwing error.  A right side situational grounder from Ally Carver advanced Ridgeway to third.  Then, Mackayla Gordon drove line shot up the middle, scoring Ridgeway.  The Bulldogs increased their lead in the 5th inning when Brownsburg added two additional runs.  Ridgeway and Taylor Astell both singled in the fifth.  Following the duo of singles, Elissa Brown doubled up the right field line, scoring Ridgeway and Astell and increasing the Bulldog's lead to 3.  Brownsburg will travel to Avon High School for the Sectional Championship this evening to face off against the #7 ranked Avon Orioles at 6 PM.
