Softball Goes 1-1 on Weekend Play

On Saturday, the Bulldog softball team placed 2nd in the Crawfordsville Invitational.  They started off the day strong with a 2-0 win against Crawfordsville.  Kayle Comer pitched the way to the shut-out victory, allowing just 3 hits in 7 innings.  Krystal Shirrell led the way with 2 hits and a double, and Chelsea Conover, Jessica Blystone, Alex Shipley, Kirsten Bartlett each added a hit a piece.  In the nightcap, the Dogs played a tight game with Scecina, going into the 6th inning scoreless on both sides.  The Crusaders got 2 runs across the plate in the 6th for the only scores of the game, and despite a nice offensive effort, the Dogs could not get their hits to fall.  Conover had 2 hits, and Blystone, Shipley, Tori Martin, Shirrell, and Bartlett again added another each.  Rachel Fiscus was terrific on the mound, striking out 6 and giving up just 5 hits in 7 innings and no earned runs.

The Dogs travel to Decatur Central on Tuesday to kick off Sectional play against Southport at 5:00
