Bulldogs top the Pioneers

Monday night the varsity softball Bulldogs got their third win in a row, this time against the Lady Pioneers of Mooresville. The Dogs fell behind early and struggled to get runners across the plate for the first half of the game. Then they came on strong in the bottom of the fourth with four hits and their first run of the game. They then scored three more in the fifth and another in the sixth to get the 5-2 win. Chelsea Conover turned in another great offensive and defensive performance, going 3-4 and notching three putouts and an assist in the gale-force winds. Sarah Callis was clutch at the plate for the Dogs, going 2-3 with an RBI. Alex Shipley was big offensively, as well going 2-4 with two RBIs. Kirsten Bartlett also went 2-4 with a triple. Kayle Comer got the complete-game win on the mound and had five strikeouts while allowing only six hits. The girls make the long trek to Lafayette Jeff on Tuesday to take on the Bronchos in hopes of evening up their conference record.
