Fishers snaps No. 21 Baseball's 9-game win streak

By Drew Sandifer

The No. 21 Brownsburg Baseball team fell to HCC rival Fishers on Wednesday night, 7-3. The loss snaps Brownsburg's nine-game win streak that dated back to May 1.

It was a big night for senior first basemen Ty Mathews, who had two homeruns and all 3 RBI for the Bulldogs on the night. His two-run blast in the bottom of the first put Brownsburg on top, 2-0. However, the Tigers matched it with a six-spot in the top of the second.

The Fishers' starting pitcher settled down after the first inning, until Mathews' second at-bat, where he homered again, this time a solo shot to pull the Dogs within four.

Jackson Fought was the only other Brownsburg player with a multi-hit game. Luke Shelton tossed 4.2 innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts on the night.

Brownsburg will look to get back on the winning ways on Thursday night at Fishers in the regular season conference finale. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
