Baseball goes 1-2 on weekend

The Brownsburg Baseball team picked up a win over Pike as part of their three-game weekend. The Bulldogs fell in successive nights to No. 2 Westfield.

On Thursday, Brownsburg and Westfield celebrated Jackie Robinson Day by wearing jerseys remembering the Indianapolis Clowns, the last Negro League team in existence. The Dogs also all donned the nu,ber 42 and the name Robinson on the back. The Shamrocks won on Thursday 12-2 in five innings.

On Friday, the Bulldogs made the return trip to Westfield, but faced more of the same adversity. Ben Bayler went 2-for-4 in the 11-2 loss while Ty Mathews recorded a double. 

Brownsburg got back on the winning track on Saturday at Pike, winnining 9-1. Connor Lambert was the winning pitcher for the Dogs, his first of the season, while Mathews continued his power hitting surge by going 2-for-4 with another double. In a display of speed, center fielder Wyatt Clodfelter recorded four stolen bases in the win over the Red Devils.

The Bulldogs, now 4-2 on the young season, face a quick turnaround as they travel to North Central on Monday, April 19 before returning home against Zionsville on Thursday, April 20 and making the return trip against the Eagles on April 21. Monday's game against North Central is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
