Baseball posts highlight weekend with Victory Field upset, walk-off win

By Drew Sandifer

Brownsburg Baseball picked up two big wins on the weekend, upsetting No. 3 Center Grove at Victory Field on May 7 and walking-off at home against Terre Haute North off Keenan LeBlanc's double in the tenth inning.

Ty Mathews put on a stellar pitching performance against the third-ranked Trojans, tossing four innings of one-run baseball, allowing just one hit and striking out four. The Bulldogs racked up 12 hits on the night, with LeBlanc, Dominic Skinner, Ben Bayler and Jackson Fought each picking up multiple hits in the win. LeBlanc went 3-for-4 as he continues his hot streak at the plate.

On Saturday, the offense did not come as easily, but the Bulldogs earned the win nonetheless. LeBlanc went 2-for-5, including the walk-off double in the tenth.

All in all, the Brownsburg pitchers racked up ten strikeouts through 10 innings. From the third inning, Brownsburg relief pitchers gave up just one hit, as Skinner, Mason Tibbs Connor Lambert and Jackson Parent took their turn at the TH North hitters. Parent picked up the win, giving up just one run in four innings pitched.

The Bulldogs return to HCC play this week as they take on Noblesville on Thursday, May 13 at Mary Beth Rose Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
