Baseball sweeps Noblesville in penultimate HCC series

By Drew Sandifer

The Brownsburg Baseball team swept HCC rival Noblesville twice over the weekend. The team has won their last seven consecutive games.

On Thursday, the two teams did all of their run scoring between the bottom of the second and the top of the fourth, as pitchers on both sides settled in in the later stages of the game. Mason Tibbs tossed four scoreless innings in relief, ending the game shutting down the Miller bats. The Bulldogs won 5-3.

Brownsburg recorded nine hits offensively, with Dominic Skinner racking up three hits in each of his three at-bats, scoring two runs in the process. Jackson Fought recorded the other multi-hit game, going 2-for-3.

Ben Bayler, Jackson Parent and Gavin Pierson each recorded an RBI.

On Friday, the Bulldogs got off to a much slower start offensively. By the end of the fourth inning, Brownsburg was trailing 4-0 and the dominance of the Millers starting pitching seemed as though the winning streak might be in jeopardy. However, two runs scored by RBIs from Wyatt Clodfelter and Fought, then Sean Gannon ripped a two-RBI double to tie the game.

While Noblesville regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning, Brownsburg was undeterred, scoring two more in the top of the sixth to take the lead for good, winning 6-5.

Parent was excellent in relief, tossing four innings with no earned runs and seven strikeouts. No Bulldog recorded more than one hit on Friday night, but they found a way to get the job done.

The Bulldogs return to action at home versus Ben Davis on Saturday for Senior Day. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
