Bulldogs Down Avon while Advancing to Next Round of Sectionals

The Bulldogs won last night in the first round of the sectional tournament beating HCC rival Avon 7-1.  The Bulldogs jumped on the Avon pitcher early taking a 3-0 lead in the second thanks to an RBI triple by Tyler Whetstone and a HR by Isaac Sampen.  The Dogs tacked 3 more on the board the next inning following a big HR by David Oliger.  Finally, in the sixth inning, the Bulldogs added 1 more run on an RBI single by Bobby Carr.  Michael Hartnagel also supplied a 3-hit ballgame.  Defensively, the Bulldogs were flawless and were led by senior Jordan Deal on the mound.  Deal pitched 6 innings, allowed only 4 hits and fanned 9 Oriole htiters.  Senior Jake Weimer came in with runners on 1st & 2nd in the bottom of the 7th inning and closed out the game.  The Bulldogs will now play the Perry Meridian Falcons in the second round on Memorial Day.  First pitch is scheduled at approximately 12:30pm.
