It takes 9 for Dogs to Defeat the Millers

The varsity baseball team improved to 5-3 and 1-3 in the HCC last night in an exciting nine inning victory over the visiting Noblesville Millers. Mycah Whetstone started the game on the mound and worked four solid innings of baseball. He left in the fourth and was replaced by Isaac Sampen for the next three innings and sophomore Ty McCoy finished the game and collected his first varsity win. The game was controlled early by the Bulldogs with an onslaught of HRs, led by John Moore, Bobby Carr, Tyler Whetstone, and Isaac Sampen (two on the night). Unfortunately, the Millers were able to claw back into the game and tie the score at 7-7 in the seventh. In the top of the eighth the Millers scored a run, but the Dogs answered on a Bobby Carr double. In the top of the ninth, Ty McCoy shut down the Millers and the Bulldogs bats came alive. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Isaac Sampen hit a single to right, Bobby Carr hit a double to right, and seniors Tyler Whetstone and David Oliger collected walks to win the game.
