The varsity baseball team brought home an exciting victory last night over HCC conference foe Zionsville by the score of 5-4. The Dogs jumped up to an early lead of 1-0 before quickly falling behind 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning. The score stayed knotted up until an exciting seventh inning. In the top of the inning senior Logan Coughlin led off with a stand-up triple. He was brought in by senior Jeremy Jones with a single up the middle. Isaac Sampen and Bobby Carr went back-to-back singles to load the bases when Sam Sampen came up and hustled out a ground ball to nullify a double-play attempt and tie the game at 3-3. Senior David Oliger then hit a single back up the middle to score Isaac Sampen to take the lead and Mike Hartnagel drove in Sam Sampen to make the score 5-3. Jordan Deal came back out to finish what he started and after an amazing play by senior second baseman, Leo Tobasco, to stop the Eagles scoring threat. Deal, then, popped the last guy out and the Dogs won 5-4. Jordan Deal pitched a complete game for the victory! The Bulldogs are in action at home tonight against Zionsville and it will be the annual Strikeout Cancer game. First pitch at 5:30pm.
