PREVIEW: No.16 Softball to take on Southport, Fishers, No.4 Roncalli in final week of the regular season

Brownsburg (13-8, 3-3 in Hoosier Crossroads Conference) caps the regular season with two home games this week plus a showdown with No.4 ranked Roncalli. The Bulldogs open with Southport tonight at home before turning around to host Fishers in their HCC finale tomorrow. Brownsburg travels to take on the Royals Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

  • Brownsburg ran its home record to 4-1 with a win over Harrison last Wednesday
  • The Bulldogs are unbeaten this year when hosting non-conference foes
  • Sophomore Addy Neal threw the first complete-game of her Brownsburg career in the win over the Raiders
  • Neal has a 0.95 earned run average in 14.2 innings at home this season. She has struck out 16 batters over those three appearances
  • Kiersten Huff's 12-game hitting streak heading into this week now leads the Hoosier Crossroads Conference
  • Brownsburg will take on a ranked opponent for the 16th time this year when the Bulldogs meet Roncalli Thursday. Brownsburg has played 12 ranked teams away from home this season
  • The Bulldogs have won their last three meetings against Fishers, including a 6-5 win in 2019 that clinched the program's first-ever HCC championship

About the Opponents

Southport (10-14, 1-4 in Conference Indiana) is led by Hayley Matlock and Neveah Pender, who both have batting averages north of .500 this year.

The Tigers (10-9, 3-2 in HCC) boast one of the HCCs best pitching staffs this season. Sophomore Kamara Walker has a 2.50 ERA (2nd in HCC) to go with a 2.89 mark (4th in HCC) for senior Hannah Mays. Mays also has a .444 batting average with 6 homers this year for Fishers. Senior Olivia Latimer ranks second in the conference with a .574 clip at the plate.

Roncalli (22-2, 5-0 in Circle City) is a winner of four straight heading into the week. The No.4 ranked Royals are led by sophomore pitcher Keagan Rothrock who ranks second in the state with a 0.21 ERA. She leads all Indiana pitchers with 229 strikeouts over 101.1 innings.
