Bulldogs Fall in Sectionals
Despite having the same number of hits, the Brownsburg Varsity Softball Team fell in the first round of Sectionals to Terre Haute North after 3 lead changes Monday Night. The patriots scored first to get the game started, but Brownsburg answered right back. Junior Kyleigh Anderson got things started in the second inning with a single. She scored on a double hit by Junior Elissa Brown. Freshman Mackenzie Bedrick also singled knocking in Brown to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead. To keep things interesting, the Patriots tied things up in the third inning before scoring 6 runs in the fourth to make the score 8-2. The Bulldogs weren't ready to give up quite yet and momentum changed when Sophomore Hayley Huff turned a double play in the bottom of the sixth. The Bulldogs continued to fight in the bottom of the 7th scoring 3 runs. Freshman Marah Wood stepped in to get things started for Brownsburg and came up big with a leadoff single. Wood advanced on a single by Bedrick and eventually scored on a double hit by Sophomore Sydney Rodeghier. Despite Brownsburg's perseverance, Terre Haute walked away with the 9-5 victory. The Bulldogs collected 11 hits on the night. Anderson, Bedrick, Brown, and Senior CeCe Ridgeway each collected multiple hits.
Overall the Bulldogs had a great season facing a lot of tough competition. They finished the season 16-10.
