Bulldogs Perfect 3-0 on the Weekend

Friday night the girls' Varsity Softball Team traveled to Carmel to take on the #20 ranked Carmel Greyhounds in the first round of the Carmel Invitational. The Bulldogs took the lead in the third inning after Senior CeCe Ridgeway hit a double and then was knocked in on a single hit by Sophomore Anna Carroll making the score 1-0. Senior Sydney Lowe added to the lead by hitting a two run homerun in the top of the fourth, making the score 3-0. Brownsburg then scored six runs in the sixth innings on a single by Lowe, a single by Sophomore Maicey Bedrick, a groundout by Sophomore Sydney Rodeghier, and a single by Carroll. Carmel tried to make a comeback in the bottom of the 7th, but in the end it wasn't enough. Brownsburg's combined 11 hits led them to a 9-4 victory over the Greyhounds. Junior Elissa Brown was the winning pitcher for Brownsburg. She threw seven innings, giving up just six hits, four runs and collecting five strike outs. 

Saturday Morning the Varsity Bulldogs took on the Carroll Chargers in the second round of the tournament. The bulldogs collected 13 total hits to defeat the Chargers 17-1. The Bulldogs grabbed an early lead in the first inning on a single by Sophomore Anna Carroll and an RBI by Senior Mckayla Gordon. The bulldogs continued their stellar offense in the second innings scoring eight runs on seven hits. Brownsburg also hit two homeruns against Carroll. Senior Sydney Lowe and Carroll both homered in the second inning. Freshman Mackenzie Bedrick, Sydney Lowe, Junior Kyleigh Anderson, and Carroll each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs. While the offense was strong, so was the defense. Brownsburg did not commit a single error in the field. Senior Jessica Doctor earned the win for Brownsburg. She pitched three innings, surrendering one run, three hits, striking out three, and walking zero.

The Bulldogs then took on Cathedral that same afternoon. They walked away with a perfect 3-0 record from the tournament after defeating Cathedral 3-2. The Bulldogs grabbed the lead first scoring on singles by Sophomore Sydney Rodeghier and Junior Elissa Brown in the first inning. Brown earned the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. She pitched five innings, allowing just two runs, four hits and walked only one batter. Senior Jessica Doctor recorded the save for Brownsburg. The Bulldogs will take on Pike this evening at 5:30.
