Zionsville Defeats Bulldogs in Last Inning

The Brownsburg Varsity Softball Team suffered a heartbreaking loss last night to the Zionsville Eagles. Zionsville took the lead first after scoring a run in the top of the first inning. Brownsburg responded by scoring one run in the fourth inning. With a tie score of 1-1, Senior CeCe Ridgeway got the momentum started for the bulldogs with a double in the bottom of the fifth. That momentum continued with hits by Junior Claire Flick and Sophomore Anna Carroll and a double by Junior Kyleigh Anderson. The Bulldogs built on their lead and were up 4-1 going into the 6th inning. The Eagles battled back and scored two runs in the sixth inning making the score 4-3 going into the seventh. In the end, Zionsville hit a two run homerun to take the win with a score of 5-4. Junior Elissa Brown was the starting pitcher for Brownsburg. She threw six and a third innings, surrendering four runs, seven hits, and striking out two. The Bulldogs are back in action tomorrow night at home at 5:30 against Plainfield. The team will be honoring all of those who are battling or who have lost their battle to Cancer. Funds raised will be donated to the American Cancer Society through the Brownsburg Relay for Life.
