Athletic Ambassadors Honored at Softball

The Varsity Softball Team jumped out to an early lead over conference rivals the Hamilton Southeastern Royals Tuesday night and took home a 4-1 victory. The Bulldogs scored on a single hit by junior Kyleigh Anderson in the first inning and a solo home run hit by Sophomore Maicey Bedrick in the second inning. The team continued to build on their lead with yet another solo homerun hit by Bedrick in the fourth inning as well as an error. Defensively, the team was strong and was able to turn two double plays. The first happened in the top of the fifth inning when Sophomore Anna Carroll caught a line drive and also got the runner who exploded off of second base. The second was the final play of the game when Sophomore Hayley Huff fielded a ground ball, tagged the runner advancing to second base and then tossed it to first base for the second out. Senior Jessica Doctor was the winning pitcher for Brownsburg. She pitched a complete game, giving up one run, seven hits, striking out two, and walking zero. The Bulldogs are back in action tonight against Lawrence North at home for Cancer Night. The team will be honoring all of those who are battling or who have lost their battle to Cancer. Funds raised will be donated to the American Cancer Society through the Brownsburg Relay for Life. Come show your support, purchase a baked good, and/or give a donation night!
