#4 Westfield Hands Bulldogs a Loss

#4 Westfield Hands Bulldogs a Loss

The Bulldogs dropped the opening game against #4 Westfield 7-2.  The final score is a little misleading, the Bulldogs and the Shamrocks remained close the entire game until a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh opened up the game for the Rocks.  The Shamrocks were on the board early 2-0 after a 2 out, 2-run home run by the Shamrocks to open up the game; however, junior RF Anthony Travelsted responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the 2nd to bring the game back to 2-1.  The Shamrocks were able to sneak another run across in the 4th to extend their lead to 2, but the Bulldogs responded again when senior PR Trent Kabrich (running for Sam Comer after his single) scored on a Tyler Houston base hit.  Unfortunately, that was all for the Dogs on the night, a few rallies in the 5th and 6th were cut short and the Shamrock offense put up a big number in the 7th to secure the victory.  On the mound, junior LHP Triston Polley (1-2) threw 4 1/3 solid innings before junior RHP Michael Klayer entered to finish the game.
