Baseball Places 3rd at County Tourney

The Bulldogs placed 3rd in the Hendricks County Tournament with victories over Tri-West (3-2)and Plainfield (12-2) and a loss to Danville (3-2) in the county semi-finals.

In game 1, the Bulldogs jumped to an early lead with senior OF Tyler Houston and senior 3B Cody Gill scored on a Jacson McGowan single up the middle.  Senior OF Tyler Westrich was able to add another run in the 4th for the Bulldogs to give them 3 on the night.  Senior RHP/1B Sam Comer (1-0) started the game for the Dogs and went 5 innings and only allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and collection his first win of the year.  Junior RHP/SS Travis Mears entered the game in the 6th and collected his first varsity save by shutting down the Bruins in the last 2 innings.

In game 2, the Bulldogs were unable to get the bats going and were held to their lowest single-game hit total of the season.  Although the Dogs were able to get runners on, a few mistakes by the Dogs and some key defensive plays by the Danville Warriors halted any potential rally.  Offensively, the Dogs were led by junior OF Anthony Travelsted (2-4) and sophomore C Charlie Brewer (2-3).  Senior RHP Trent Kabrich went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) before handing the ball over to junior RHP/SS Travis Mears to finish the game.  The Bulldogs threatened in the bottom of the 7th, but a timely double-play by the Warriors dashed the Dogs hopes.

In the 3rd place game, the Bulldogs offense finally showed up after a 2 game hiatus.  The Dogs were able to put up 12 runs on 10 hits against the Plainfield Quakers.  Offensviely, the Dogs were led by junior SS Jacson McGowan (4-4, 3 RBIs); senior 3B Cody Gill (2-2); senior OF Tyler Houston (2-3); and junior OF Michael Klayer (2-2).  The Bulldogs used a handful of pitchers in the victory with junior LHP Matt Rollyson (2-0) collecting the victory.  Rollyson started the game and went 3 innings only allowing 1 run on 4 hits.  Senior RHP David LeClerc took over for 2 innings allowing 0 runs on 0 hits and junior LHP Triston Polley finished the game allowing 1 run (0 earned) on 1 hit.
