Girls Basketball Opens Season with a Victory

The Brownsburg Girls' basketball team started their season with an exciting come from behind win, defeating a resilient Decatur Central squad 49-39.  The Dogs started out cold in the first quarter, missing several easy buckets while the Hawks drained 3 three pointers in the first 8 minutes of play.  The Dogs trailed 8-15 at the end of the quarter.

The Dogs turned it up in the second quarter, outscoring the Hawks by 3 entering the half down 18-22.  The teams were even in the third, each scoring ten points entering the 4th quarter with a score of 28-32.  The Dogs showed their toughness in the fourth quarter turning up their D and getting the ball to the basket.  The Dogs scored 21 points in the quarter!

Stephanie Mavunga led the Dogs with 26 points and 12 rebounds.  Kayle Comer added 8 points and 3 assists.  Freshman Aliyah Walker did a great job attacking the basket and finished the night with 7 points and 10 boards.  Margaret Oles hit four big free throws in the final minute of action and did a nice job handling the point.
