Dogs Down HCC Foe Eagles

The Varsity Girls' Basketball team improved to 14-2 on the season and 5-1 in the HCC, with a conference win over Zionsville last night,60-37. The Dogs jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter with the post players scoring 14 of the Dogs' 17 first quarter points.  The Dogs led, 17-7.  The Eagles outscored the Dogs by one point in the second quarter.  The Dogs entered the half with a nine point lead, 27-18.  The Dogs turned up their defense in the second half forcing Eagle turnovers and missed shots.   The Dogs dominated the boards, outrebounding the Eagles by 24 rebounds. 
 
Katie Reinhart, once again, had an awesome night finishing with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.  Stephanie Mavunga, as always, was aggressive in the paint scoring a game high 26 points.  Stephanie grabbed 12 rebounds - 6 on the offensive end - blocked four shots, dished out two assists and had four steals.    Lindsey Low, Mackenzie Trout and Kayle Comer combined for fifteen rebounds, two assists, two steals and eight points.  Alex Shipley, Hannah Mingus and Allison DeVaney did a nice job running the point.
