Girls Outlast Covenant Christian

The Varsity Girls' Basketball team won their third game of the season last night defeating Covenant Christian 58-32.  The first quarter was close, with CC playing great defense and the Dogs missing free throws – the Dogs led 11-8.  The Dogs turned up their defensive pressure in the second quarter and finished their shots in the paint extending their lead, entering the half up 25-13. 

The Dogs' offense gained momentum in the second half with the Dogs scoring 33 points in the half.  Stephanie Mavunga filled the stat sheet leading the Dogs with 21 points (hitting 10 of 15 shots), 10 rebounds and three blocks.  Kayle Comer hit two three pointers and was aggressive on the boards grabbing eleven rebounds.  Kayle and Allison DeVaney combined for four steals and five assists.  Chazney Jones and Audrey Lyons combined for 14 fourth quarter points.  Audrey was a perfect 3 for 3 from the charity stripe.  Chazney also grabbed three boards and had two steals.  Makenzie Trout finished the night with five rebounds.  It was a great team effort.
