#1 Royal's Too Much for #3 Bulldogs

The varsity girls' basketball teamlost a tough game last night to top ranked Hamilton Southeastern, 47-67. The Royals missed only one shot in the first quarter of action and led by a score of 13-18. The Dogs struggled to find their offensive rhythm in the second quarter and entered the half down by nine, 21-30. The Dogs closed the lead in the third, but not for long. HSE responded with nine unanswered points and closed the third quarter with a 35-51 lead. The Dogs battled hard throughout the game and showed a great deal of heart in front of a HUGE Bulldog crowd!

Stephanie Mavunga scored a game high 26 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, blocked four shots and had two steals. Kayle Comer added nine points and two offensive boards. Kayle did a great job driving to the bucket late in the game. Alex Shipley played awesome defense and had the courage to take a charge in the second half. Katie Reinhart and Allison DeVaney were also solid contributors, playing great defense and combining for six points, nine rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal. We are very proud of the girls for their effort and determination! A special thanks to the student body for their support! Next for the Bulldogs, Danville on Saturday night at the field house. Continue to support your Lady Dogs!
