IHSAA STATE TOURNAMENT | BRACKETS

The 2020 IHSAA Wrestling State Tournament continues this weekend with sixteen Regionals at respective host sites. The Brownsburg varsity wrestling team will compete in IHSAA Regional 13 at Mooresville High School. Action is set to get underway at 9:30 a.m.

     Stellar Sectional Saturday

Brownsburg is coming off its fifth consecutive IHSAA Sectional Crown last weekend. The Bulldogs took home seven individual titles and advanced 13 of their wrestlers to the Regional tomorrow. 106-pound Logan Miller, 138-pound Drake Campbell, 160-pound Peyton Asbury, 182-pound Greg Glover, 195-pound Isaiah Street, 220-pound Leighton Jones and 285-pound Dorian Keys all came away with Sectional titles last weekend.

113-pound Braden Haines, 120-pound Gavin Garcia, 126-pound Kysen Montgomery, 145-pound Nick Cicciarelli, 152-pound Jacob Cookerly, 170-pound Jahmon Spiller all advanced to the Regional this weekend despite not winning a Sectional title.

The Bulldogs scored 273.0 points to finish 40 points ahead of runner-up Avon in the team scores.

    Back at the Regional

Brownsburg will look to win its fifth consecutive IHSAA Regional crown this weekend. Last year, the Bulldogs dominated the day at Mooresville to move their streak to four in a row.

In 2019, the Bulldogs came away with six individual titles at the Regional and finished 60-points ahead of runner-up Avon. Miller, 113-pound KT Nelson, 138-pound Drew Kreitzer, 170-poiund Thierry Jean-Baptiste, 220-pound Lawson Aiken and Keys all were crowned Regional champs for the Bulldogs.

Kysen Montgomery (in 2018 at 106) and Drake Campbell (in 2018 at 120) have also won Regional titles in their careers for Brownsburg.

A Regional crown this weekend would give Brownsburg the 9th IHSAA Wrestling Regional crown in school history.

     The Regional Field

Wrestlers from Avon, Ben Davis, Brownsburg, Cascade, Center Grove, Danville, Decatur Central, Franklin, Greencastle, Greenwood, Martinsville, Monrovia, Mooresville, North Putnam, Pike, Plainfield, Tri-West and Whiteland will be at the Mooresville Regional this Saturday.

Brownsburg (13), Avon (12) and Franklin (11) are the only schools at Mooresville who bring more than 10 wrestlers to the Regional.

27 wrestlers at the Mooresville Regional are featured in the IndianaMat.com Individual State Rankings. That list includes seven wrestlers who are ranked in the top-five of their class.

Perhaps the most talented weight class in the Mooresville Regional is 126 which features three of the top seven wrestlers in the state. No.1 Raymond Rioux (Avon), No.2 Ben Dalton (Monrovia) and No.7 Kysen Montgomery (Brownsburg) are all in the field.

On paper, the Bulldogs are in line to win five individual titles this weekend with Miller, Campbell, Asbury, Street and Keys all being the top ranked wrestler at the Regional.

     Up Next

The top four place winners in each weight class of the Mooresville Regional advance to the IHSAA Semi-State next weekend at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
