No.1 @BHSDogsWrestlin beats Westfield in season opener

By Keelen Barlow

The Brownsburg varsity wrestling team opened their 2019-2020 campaign with a 53-12 win over HCC foe Westfield at the Varsity Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs lost just two bouts in the dual and won by fall on five separate occasions. Brownsburg won the first eight bouts of the match before the Shamrocks were able to get on the board.

In their first varsity action, No. 14 Braden Haines and Nick Cicciarelli both registered wins for the Bulldogs. Haines trailed 2-0 in his 113-pound bout with Dylan Driver of Westfield before he battled back to win 6-3.

No. 11 Greg Glover recorded the quickest win of the night as he pinned Westfield's Jackson Anderson with 44 second seconds left in the first period.

Brownsburg has nine wrestlers who are ranked in the Indiana Mat Individual State Rankings and also competed in the dual. That group was undefeated in the match.
