No.1 @BHSDogsWrestlin to compete at 32-team Flavin Invitational in Illinois

FLAVIN INVITATIONAL | BRACKETS

The No.1 ranked Brownsburg varsity wrestling team will travel to DeKalb, Illinois for the 14th Annual Don Flavin DeKalb Invitational December 27-26 at DeKalb High School. Action will get underway at 9 a.m. on both days.

Brownsburg comes in with an 8-0 record in duals this season.

     About Flavin

Thirty-two teams will meet in DeKalb for the dual tournament this week. The two-day competition splits teams into four brackets of eight teams for competition on the opening day. Teams will wrestle three matches in the group stage on Day 1 to determine their placement in the pool stage on Day 2.

On the second day teams will be broken up based on their finish on the first day. First place teams will wrestle in one pool, second place teams will wrestle in another and so on and so forth.

The dual tournament allows for teams to get their wrestlers up to six matches across the two days.

      The Field

The event will feature 29 teams from the state of Illinois, a pair of teams from the state of Wisconsin and a team from Indiana (Brownsburg). Ten of the 32 teams are ranked in their respective state's poll.

Andrew (IL), Aurora Christian (IL), Brownsburg, Chatham Glenwood (IL), Deerfield (IL), DeKalb (IL), Glenbard East (IL), Glenbard West (IL), Glenbrook North (IL), Hinsdale Central (IL), Joliet Central (IL), Lemont (IL), McHenry (IL), Moline (IL), Mukwonago (WI), Naperville Central (IL), Niles Notre Dame (IL), Oak Park River Forest (IL), Oswego (IL), Pewaukee (WI), Plainfield Central (IL), Plainfield East (IL), Plainfield South (IL), Prospect (IL), Providence Catholic (IL), St. Charles East (IL), St. Rita (IL), Stagg (IL), Sycamore (IL), Wheaton North (IL), WillowBrook (IL) and York (IL) will all be in DeKalb this weekend.

Dekalb (No.3), Naperville Central (No.14), Prospect (No. 18), Oswego (No. 21) and Glenbard West (No.25) are ranked in the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Class 3A top 25. Lemont (No.2), Deerfield (No.5), Aurora Christian (No.8) Sycamore (No.11) are ranked in the Class 2A top-25.

Mukwonago is ranked No.2 in the WIWrestling.com Division 1 High School Team Rankings.

The Bulldogs are aligned in the "Wayne Miller" bracket for Day 1 action which features Glenbrook North, Plainfield South, Hinsdale Central, Plainfield East, Wheaton North, St. Rita and Naperville Central. Brownsburg will wrestle Glenbrook North in the opening round on Friday. They will wrestle Plainfield South or Hinsdale Central in their second dual on Friday.

The Flavin features 25 wrestlers who ranked in the top-five of the IWCOA Class 3A and Class 2A Individual rankings. Mukwonago and Pewaukee combine for nine wrestlers who are highlighted in WIWrestling.com's Individual rankings. Brownsburg has 11 wrestlers who are featured in the IndianaMat.com Individual State Rankings.
