Weather Pauses Game, Baseball Comes Back Stronger in Win vs Ben Davis, 14-5

By Brian Cooney

Baseball (15-5 8-3 in HCC) had a three-day baseball game this past weekend. With the game pausing on Saturday (5.14) due to weather, Brownsburg and Ben Davis picked up again on Monday (5.16).

The score was tied at four at the top of the 4th inning on Saturday when lightning warnings paused the game. Drew Jennings started the game off on Saturday, pitching three innings and allowing two earned runs. This was his first start on Varisty.

In the top of the third inning, Mason Grant launched his first home run of the season, tying the ballgame at two apiece. After an RBI grounder from Keenan LeBlanc and Wyatt Coldfelter stole home on a passed ball, the lightning stopped play.

Once the game resumed on Monday, the Bulldog offense was locked and loaded. They scored nine more runs in the 4th inning after the break. The inning was capped off by a three-run home run by Jack Regashus, his first homer on Varisty.

Alec Murphy, Connor Lambert, and Josh Judge closed out the game, pitching the last four innings.

Notable Performances:

Mason Grant: 1-2, HR, 2 RBI, 2R

Jack Regashus: 3-5 HR, 3 RBI

Jackson Fought: 3-5, R

Ben Bayler: 1-3, 2 RBI, 2 R
