By Brian Cooney

Baseball (1-1, 1-0 in HCC) traveled to Hamilton Southeastern Apr. 6 for Brownsburg's Hoosier Crossroads Conference opener. It was a pitching duel as Bulldogs pulled out a 3-1 win over the Royals, improving their record to 1-1 on the new season

In the top of the 1st, Sean Gannon reached on a fielding error by the Royal's third basemen, scoring the runners on 2nd and 3rd. In the next inning, the Bulldogs scored their last run of the game with an infield single by Ben Bayler, bringing home Will McKinzie from third.

The rest of the game was quiet, as both Brownsburg and Hamilton Southeastern pitchers were lights out. Mason Tibbs and Alec Murphy combined for 7 innings of work, only allowing 1 earned run and five hits. Murphy came out of the bullpen, throwing 4.0 one-hit innings and striking out six batters.

The Bulldogs face off against the Royals again tomorrow, Apr. 7 at Mary Beth Rose Park.
