Baseball Celebrates Seniors
The Bulldogs collected a much-needed nonconference victory last night on Senior Night against the McCutcheon Mavericks. The Mavericks jumped on the board 2-0 after the top of the first to but the Dogs battled right back in the bottom half of the inning. Chase Haynes led off the game with a double off the wall and was quickly brought in to score on a Tyler Bireley double to left. Tyler scored on a Charlie Brewer single and the score was knotted back up at 2-2 after one. Jaret Starnes kept the Mavericks off the board for the next 3 innings, but the Mavericks were able to hold the Bulldogs scoreless as well. In the fifth, the Mavericks were able to sneak 2 more across to make it 4-2. Despite threatening a few times, the Dogs remained down 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th. Luis Escalante led off with a walk, Chase Haynes added a single and Cameron Martin singled to bring in a run. Bireley was intentionally walked to load the bases. Logan Kabrich and Charlie Brewer then both drew walks to bring in the game-tying and the game-winning runs. It was an exciting game and a great way to send off our five exceptional senior student-athletes
