Bulldogs Drop First Two Zionsville Games

The Bulldogs dropped the first two games in the series with HCC rival Zionsville by the score of 5-3 and 11-0.  In game 1 on Thursday night the Bulldogs fell behind early as the Eagles were able to score 3 in the first three innings.  Sophomore pitcher Garrett Copley settled in after that and kept the Eagles at bay for a few innings.  They were able to sneak a few more runs across in the 5th to bring the score to 5-0 heading into the 7th.  In the 7th, the Dogs loaded the bases on the Eagles and scored three runs on hits form Jake Smith and Charlie Brewer and another when Chase Haynes was walked with the bases loaded.  Unfortunately, the Dogs rally ended two runs short of a comeback and the Bulldogs fell 5-3.

 

Game two on Friday night took place up in Zionsville and the Bulldogs continued to hit the ball well but couldn't string hits together an d bring runs across the plate.  The Eagles bats got hot and they were able to score 4 in the first, 5 in the 4th and two more in the 5th to end the game early by the score of 11-0.  The Bulldogs fall to 7-11 on the season and looked take one from the Eagles on Saturday morning at 11am against the Eagles.
