Westfield Narrowly Defeats Dogs

The Bulldogs dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker in 11 innings last night to the Westfield Shamrocks. The Bulldogs jumped on the board first with a nice RBI single from Luis Escalante to bring in Chase Haynes. In the bottom of the inning the Shamrocks took the lead back taking the score to 2-1. The Bulldogs jumped right back with a run in the top of the 3^rd with Charlie Brewer scoring Greg Hughes with a ground ball to short. The score remained knotted 2-2 until the 5^th when the Bulldogs took the lead when Cameron Martin scored as the Shamrock pitched walked Brewer with the bases loaded. Unfortunately, a couple timely hits by the Rocks evened the score at 3 in the 6^th inning and the score remained tied until the 11^th. The Bulldogs had a few chances to win but some great defensive plays by the Shamrocks in extra innings ended all of the Bulldog scoring opportunities. In the bottom of the 11^th, the Rocks scored on a single to right that landed just out of reach of RF Garrett Copley. Logan Kabrich threw 6 innings for the Bulldogs and Jaret Starnes threw 4 2/3. The Bulldogs pitched and played defense exceptionally well, only committing 1 error in 11 innings. The Bulldogs drop to 7-6 (3-4 HCC) and look to even the series tonight at home with the first pitch set for 6p.
