Bulldog Defeat Orioles

Cameron Martin's leadoff home run ignited the Bulldogs offense on a bitter, snowy Thursday night and led to a big 10-1 Bulldog victory in their HCC opener over Avon.  After Martin's solo shot, the Bulldogs carried a 1-0 lead into the 3rdinning before the Orioles were able to sneak a run across after the Bulldogs only defensive miscue of the night, but in the fourth the bats reignited.  The Bulldogs tacked on four runs in the top of the fourth to take the score to 5-1 behind big hits from Logan Kabrich, Garrett Copley, Chase Haynes and Greg Hughes.  Kabrich continued to cruise through the Oriole hitters, allowing zero hits from the 2nd through 4th.  In the top of the 5th, Charlie Brewer got the offense started again and the Dogs put up 5 more runs behind hits from Copley, Escalante and a huge pinch-hit, 2-run double off the wall from Jordan Jones.  Kabrich settled into a groove and kept the Orioles hitless and scoreless in the 5th and 6th.  The Bulldogs threatened to score again in the 7th but couldn't put another run on the board and Kabrich finished off the game with a crisp 7th to collect his first complete game victory of the season.  The Bulldogs move to 2-0 (1-0 HCC) and will play the Orioles at home Friday night.
