Westfield over Bulldogs

The Bulldogs dropped an HCC doubleheader on Friday night to the Westfield Shamrocks.  In game one the Bulldogs fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first and could never generate any offense at the plate to come from behind.  The Shamrocks scored in the 3rd, 5th and 6th to spread out the scoring and the Bulldogs could not find the timely hit to drive in runners in scoring position.  Garrett Copley took the loss on the mound and Chase Haynes, Drew Stratton and Sam Hughes all saw work in relief.  In game two, the Bulldogs jumped on the board quick scoring runs in the first and second but allowed 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st after a few miscues in the outfield  to fall behind 3-2 after two.  The Bulldogs allowed a run in the 3rd and 2 in the 5th to bring the score to 6-2 and again, the Dogs struggled to bring in runners in scoring position.  Tyler Bireley threw 5 innings for the Bulldogs and Brandon Reid was able to get back on the mound after an injury that had halted his pitching for a couple weeks to throw some solid relief work.  The Bulldogs fall to 7-8 (3-6 HCC) and will battle Bloomington South at home on Monday and then look to #1 Zionsville on for a home HCC series on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
