Girls' Softball Celebrates Seniors

The varsity softball team lost a back-and-forth ballgame in extra innings this past Wednesday against Decatur Central, 6-5.  The Dogs hopped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1^st inning thanks to hits from Ally Carver and Taylor Mendenhall who were hit in on a Kayle Comer blooper that the 1^st baseman couldn't handle.  The Hawks came back in the 4^th with 3 runs of their own and added 2 more in the 5^th, but the Lady Dogs didn't back down, answering with a Carlie Weaver homerun blast in the 4^th and 2 more runs in the bottom of the 7^th with the game on the line.  Candice Williams and Mendenhall combined for two hits to put runners on, and then Kelsey Reinhardt got the game-tying RBI with a well-placed hit to right field that sent the game into extras.  Despite their comeback efforts, the Dogs gave up a 1-run homerun in the top of the 9^th and couldn't answer in the bottom of the inning.  Congratulations to seniors Kayle Comer, Rachel Fiscus, and Natalie Kroll for their 4 great years as a part of BHS softball, and good luck to them and the rest of the team as they wrap up conference play on Friday, seeking revenge against Avon and a strong conference finish, and again as they head into Sectionals next week
