Bulldogs Defeat the Tigers with Exciting Finish

Wednesday night the varsity softball team got a great conference victory over the Fishers Tigers, winning 2-1 in exciting fashion.  The Dogs got on the board early when Ally Carver reached base on the first at-bat of the game, then was advanced to second on a Kyrsten Wagoner sacrifice bunt.  Lindsey Stahl then had a perfect hit over first base to get the speedy Carver across the plate.  Following the run, the Dogs suffered an offensive drought but were kept in the game thanks to another nice performance from Carlie Weaver on the mound, striking out 12 and allowing only 4 hits.  The Tigers were able to capitalize in the 5th inning on two of their hits, scoring their lone run of the game, but the Dogs were determined to get the win.  In the bottom of the 7th, tied 1-1, Kayle Comer rattled the defense with a hard-hit ball and reached 1st with one out.  Two batters later, with two outs and extra innings looming, Natalie Kroll, 2 strikes in the hole, found open space in the outfield and scored Comer for the win.  The girls are at home again on Thursday against Cathedral at 5:30
