The Lady Bulldogs go 2-1 Over the weekend

On Friday night the varsity softball team went on the road to face an always-tough conference opponent in McCutcheon. The girls started off strong, scoring first and never looking back, and winning 7-3 in a dominating team performance. Carlie Weaver led the way for the Dogs on the mound, throwing 6 scoreless innings and tallying 7 strikeouts. Offensively, Kayle Comer had the hot bat, going 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Lindsey Stahl also had a homerun in her second consecutive game. Other hits were recorded by Taylor Mendenhall with two, and one apiece for Gabby Hall, Candice Williams, Ally Carver, Jessica Blystone, and Kelsey Reinhardt. Kayla Kirby did a nice job, as well, reaching base 3 times. The Dogs' outfield also had a great game defensively with several great plays to back up Weaver.

On Saturday the varsity softball team had a double header and started out the morning with a bang against Danville.  The Dogs were offensive powerhouses in their 17-1 route, led by the bat of Lindsey Stahl who had 3 homeruns and 7 RBI in her first 3 at-bats.  Jessica Blystone also went on a tear, going 3 for 3 and scoring 2 runs. Ally Carver and Kelsey Reinhardt had 2 hits apiece and Gabby Hall scored 3 runs, as well. Kayle Comer allowed just 4 hits from the mound and recorded a complete game.

In the second game, the ladies took on a hard-throwing Lafayette Jeff team and had trouble carrying their offense over as they lost 2-0.  Despite overcoming a couple of early defensive miscues to play solidly in the field in the later innings, the girls were only able to muster two hits, one from Jessica Blystone and another from Carlie Weaver.  Weaver was also great again in her 4 innings on the mound, allowing no hits, no runs, and recording 5 strikeouts.

The Lady Dogs travel to Lafayette Harrison on Tuesday, looking to improve their conference record to 3-2, then come back home on Wednesday to take on Fishers at 5:30.  Go Dogs!
