John Colquitt wins three regional titles; 8 to compete at state final

The Brownsburg Boys' Track and Field team finished second at the Lafayette Regional meet, and Bulldogs will compete in a totai of eight events at the IHSAA Boys' Track and Field State Final next week.

The star of the show was once again John Colquitt, who walked away with three Regional titles. He first one the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.07 and the 300m hurdles in a time of 37.61, edging out Carmel's Zachary Cox in both races. Colquitt and Cox enter next week's state meet as the top two seeds in those events. Colquitt went on to win the long jump event, with a jump of 22'6.25. His jump is the sixth best seed in the state final.

Fellow Bulldog hurdler Marcos Barbosa will compete in the state event in the 110m hurdles, finishing with a time of 14.96. He received a call back from the IHSAA.

Haiden Diemer-McKinney will make his debut at the state final meet, finishing with a time of 1:55.36 in the 800m run, which was under the state standard. 

Trevor Nolan also received a call back for the 3200m run, where he ran a 9:24.37. 

The 4x400 relay team of Justin Petty, Scotty Tienda, Haiden Diemer-McKinney and Jalen Larkey will make an appearance at the state meet as the only relay team to make it out of regionals with a time of 3:26.58, good for third in the Regional.

Finally, Tyray Lackey will return to the State Finals, where he will compete in the high jump. Lackey jumped 6'5, which is above the state standard.

The Boys' Track and Field State Finals are scheduled for Friday, Jun 4 at Ben Davis High School. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. and can be viewed live on IHSAAtv.org.
