      About the Orioles

Avon comes into the postseason off an undefeated regular season. The Orioles claimed the 2019 Hoosier Crossroads Conference championship.

The Orioles are led by both a top-ten offense and top-ten defense in IHSAA Class 6A. They rank among the best of Class 6A in points allowed per game and points scored per game this year.

QB Henry Hesson threw for 1811 yards this season to lead all HCC quarterbacks. He also threw the most touchdowns of any HCC quarterback during the regular season.

WR Carmelo Mitchell has 524 yards and 7 TDs to lead Avon.

On the other side of the ball, MLB Ross England leads the Orioles. He has 51 tackles this season and was second in the HCC in sacks during the regular season.

     Series History

The Brownsburg-Avon rivalry is one that dates back to the inaugural season of Avon High School football in 1961. The two teams have met in all but six seasons since 1961 for a total of 61 games in the series (regular and postseason).

The B&O Rotary Trail Bell, a traveling trophy between the schools, was introduced ahead of the 2016 football season.

Brownsburg leads the all-time series with Avon by a 35-27 margin. The Bulldogs won 22 of the first 25 games in the series before the Orioles began to level the field beginning in the 90s.

Despite the rivalry's storied history, the inception of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference marked the first time the schools were ever members of the same conference at the same time.

The two schools were both members of the Mid-State conference but at different times in their history.

Avon won the most recent matchup in the series back on Sept. 13 in what was a defensive slugfest between the two familiar foes. The Orioles came away with a 7-3 win over the Bulldogs in that matchup.
